Fabulous First Day

Today was our first day in Paris as a group and it was beautiful-- sunny and warm! We began our day with an impromptu visit to the Saint Chapelle to see the glorious stained glass windows. The girls really enjoyed seeing what masterpieces were constructed in the 1200's!
Then we strolled across the Ile de Cité to magnificent Notre Dame. After taking pictures in front of the cathedral, we explored the sanctuary, enjoying a girls' choir in concert. We gazed up at the Rose Window, overwhelmed by the splendor and glory of the stained glass.
After a spiritual journey through Notre Dame, we explored the back alleys of the Latin Quarter. It was a feast for the senses; some girls had gelato in the shape of a flower. Others enjoyed delectable crêpes.
We convened after some shopping and snacks at the grandious, pigeon beloved statue of Charlemagne to continue our journey to the Le Tour Eiffel. What a magnificent steel structure! We ascended in the crowded lift to the second floor, where we beheld the city at our feet. Again, we rode to the very tippy top to get the best panoramic view of the city of Paris.
After our descent, we hiked to Trocadéro were we took the best picture ever-A beautiful blue sky, dotted with clouds and the stunning Eiffel Tower as our backdrop. From there we rested and enjoyed the view. A fabulous first day in Paris!
